Packing Tape

Packing tape is the backbone of any box-sealing operation. A clean, secure seal keeps your parcels closed during transit, protects the contents from dust and moisture, and ensures your goods arrive with your customer in the condition they left your warehouse.

Our packing tape range includes two formulations: low-noise tape for quiet working environments, and eco tape made from 100% recycled polypropylene for businesses that want a more sustainable option. Both are available in clear and buff (brown), and supplied in 6-packs or 36-packs with volume discounts on larger orders. All rolls are 48mm wide, which is the standard width for parcel tape dispensers and hand application.

All of our packing tapes are available with volume pricing. If you would like to test the product before ordering, you can Request a Free Sample.

Our Packing Tape Range

Low-Noise Packing Tape (Clear)

Our low-noise tape unrolls smoothly and quietly, without the loud tearing sound that standard polypropylene tape produces. This makes it a practical choice for office environments, shared workspaces or any despatch area where noise levels matter. Each roll is 48mm x 66m, supplied in packs of 6 or 36.

Eco Packing Tape (Clear and Buff)

Our 100% recycled eco tape provides a strong, reliable seal on a longer 92-metre roll, giving you around 40% more tape per roll than the low-noise option. This means fewer roll changes during busy packing periods and a lower cost per metre. Available in both clear and buff, in 6-packs and 36-packs. We also sell Kraft Paper Packing Tape for an even more sustainable option.

Clear Packing Tape vs Buff Packing Tape

Both clear and buff tape provide the same adhesive strength and sealing performance. The choice between them is largely down to appearance and practical preference.

Clear tape is the more popular choice for businesses that want the sealed box to look clean and uncluttered, or where labels and printed information on the box need to remain visible through the tape. It also blends in well on white or light-coloured packaging.

Buff (brown) tape is a natural match for brown cardboard boxes and gives a neat, uniform finish. Some businesses prefer buff tape because it is slightly easier to see where the tape has been applied, which can be helpful during quality checks at the packing bench. It also tends to disguise marks and handling scuffs on the tape itself a little better than clear.

For most operations, it comes down to preference. Both colours are available across our eco range.

Low-Noise Tape vs Eco Tape

Our two packing tape formulations serve different priorities, and the right choice depends on your working environment and usage volume.

Low-noise tape is engineered to unroll quietly. Standard polypropylene tape can produce a sharp, loud tearing sound each time it is pulled from the roll, which can be disruptive in smaller or shared spaces. Low-noise tape addresses this by using a modified adhesive that releases smoothly from the roll. Each roll is 66 metres long, and the tape is currently available in clear.

Eco tape is made from 100% recycled polypropylene, which makes it the more environmentally responsible choice. At 92 metres per roll, it also offers significantly more tape than the low-noise option, which reduces the frequency of roll changes and lowers your cost per metre. It is available in both clear and buff. The trade-off is that it unrolls with the standard level of noise, which may not be ideal for quieter environments.

If noise is not a concern and you are looking for the most cost-effective option, the eco tape is usually the better choice. If you work in an environment where noise matters, the low-noise tape is worth the slight premium. If you are looking for a fully sustainable option, you may prefer our Kraft Paper Packing Tape.

Using a Tape Dispenser

All of our packing tape rolls are compatible with standard handheld tape dispensers (sometimes called tape guns). Using a dispenser speeds up the sealing process, gives a more consistent application and makes it easier to tear the tape cleanly at the end of each seal.

For businesses that seal more than a handful of boxes a day, a dispenser is a worthwhile investment. It reduces the time spent wrestling with the end of the roll and helps avoid the waste that comes from tearing tape by hand. Our tape rolls fit standard 48mm dispensers, which are widely available.

How Much Packing Tape Do You Need?

The amount of tape you get through depends on the size and volume of parcels you seal. As a rough guide, sealing a standard small parcel box uses around 1 to 1.5 metres of tape per box (top and bottom seal, plus a reinforcing strip if needed). A 66-metre roll of low-noise tape will seal roughly 40 to 65 boxes, while a 92-metre eco roll will cover around 60 to 90 boxes.

If you are sealing a high volume of parcels, purchasing the 36-pack is usually the most cost-effective option to save on delivery costs. It also means you are less likely to run out mid-shift. For lower-volume operations, the 6-pack keeps your stock manageable without over-committing.
