Our Fragile Tape Range
Fragile Tape 6-Pack (48mm x 92m)
Six rolls of printed fragile tape, suited to businesses with a moderate volume of delicate despatches. Each roll provides 92 metres of tape, which is enough to seal a substantial number of parcels before a roll change is needed.
Fragile Tape 36-Pack (48mm x 92m)
The 36-pack is designed for higher-volume operations or businesses that want to keep a reliable stock on hand. Volume pricing on the larger pack reduces the cost per roll compared to the 6-pac and, ensures you are less likely to run out during a busy period.
Kraft Fragile Tape (50mm x 50m)
For businesses looking to reduce plastic across their entire packaging process, our Kraft Fragile Tape offers the same visible “FRAGILE” warning on a paper-based tape. Made from Kraft paper with a natural rubber adhesive, it can be recycled alongside the cardboard box with no need for separation. Each roll is 50mm x 50m, available in 6-packs and 36-packs. When to Use Fragile Tape
Fragile tape is designed for parcels that contain items at higher risk of damage during transit. Common uses include despatching glassware, ceramics, electronics, framed artwork, medical supplies and precision instruments. It is also useful for any item where the packaging itself needs to arrive in presentable condition, such as retail-ready display boxes or gift items.
The printed warning does not replace proper internal cushioning. Bubble Wrap, Flexi-Hex®, Honeycomb Wrap or similar protective materials should still be used inside the box. What fragile tape does is add a visual instruction on the outside of the parcel, which can influence how it is picked up, stacked and moved through the delivery chain.
How Fragile Tape Reduces Handling Damage
Most handling damage occurs because a parcel is treated like every other box in the system. Without a visible warning, handlers have no way of knowing that the contents need extra care. Fragile tape addresses this by printing the word “FRAGILE” at regular intervals along the roll, so the warning is visible regardless of where the tape is applied.
Studies and industry experience suggest that marked parcels are less likely to be thrown, dropped or stacked under heavy items. While no marking can guarantee careful handling at every stage, a clear fragile warning is one of the simplest and most cost-effective steps a business can take to protect delicate shipments.
Fragile Tape vs Fragile Stickers
Some businesses use self-adhesive fragile stickers or labels instead of fragile tape. Both achieve a similar result, but there are practical differences.
Fragile tape serves a dual purpose: it seals the box and marks it as fragile in a single step. This saves time in the packing process because there is no need to apply a separate label after sealing. The warning also repeats along the length of the tape, so it is visible from multiple angles.
Fragile stickers need to be applied as a separate step after the box has been sealed with standard tape. They are typically placed on one or two sides of the box, which means the warning may not be visible from every angle. For high-volume operations, the extra step of peeling and placing stickers adds time and labour cost.
For most businesses that regularly despatch fragile items, printed fragile tape is the more efficient option.
Pairing Fragile Tape with Protective Packaging
Fragile tape works well as the outer layer of a broader protective packing strategy. For stronger protection, pair it with appropriate internal cushioning:
Bubble Wrap for wrapping individual items or filling voids inside the box
Flexi-Hex® for wrapping bottles, jars or other cylindrical fragile objects
Honeycomb Wrap for a plastic-free alternative that provides cushioning and surface protection
Pallet Wrap for securing fragile items on pallets during bulk shipments
Kraft Fragile Tape for a plastic-free fragile marking option that recycles with the box
The combination of visible external marking and proper internal protection gives your parcels a stronger chance of arriving without damage.
