Padded Envelopes for Posting and Protection

Padded envelopes are one of the most versatile and cost-effective ways to protect items in the post. Our Padded Envelopes are bubble lined mailers made using FSC accredited paper, available in both gold and white and in sizes A through to K. They are lightweight, easy to pack and sized to match Royal Mail’s Pricing in Proportion (PiP) guidelines, helping you keep postage costs to a minimum.

Padded envelopes work well for a wide range of items: cosmetics, jewellery, books, stationery, phone cases, craft supplies and clothing. For smaller items such as gift cards or earrings, our Size A envelopes (110 x 165mm) fit neatly within Royal Mail’s letter rate. For larger shipments like A4 documents or magazines, Size F (230 x 335mm) and Size G (240 x 335mm) offer the space and cushioning you need while staying within the large letter threshold.

If you are looking for a more sustainable option, our Eco Padded Envelopes from Enviroflute are fully recyclable, biodegradable, plastic free and water resistant. Made entirely from sustainable materials, they offer excellent protection without the environmental compromise of traditional bubble lined mailers.

Board Backed Envelopes

Board backed envelopes are ideal for posting documents, certificates, photographs and brochures that must arrive flat and undamaged. Each envelope features a sturdy cardboard back panel and the printed message “Please Do Not Bend”, giving both the sender and the postal handler a clear signal to take extra care. Our Board Backed Envelopes are available in C4, C5 and C5+ sizes, all with peel and seal closures.

Board backed envelopes are fully recyclable and biodegradable, making them a practical and responsible choice for businesses that post flat items regularly. They are particularly popular with schools, print shops, photographers and offices that need to send A4 or A5 paperwork without risk of creasing.

All Board Envelopes

Where you need even more rigidity, All Board Envelopes provide a fully rigid envelope made entirely from solid board. Unlike board backed envelopes, which have a paper front and a card back, all board envelopes are constructed from card on both sides, giving maximum protection against bending and crushing during transit.

Our all board envelopes are available in C4 and C5 sizes and are well suited to artwork, photographs, greetings cards and important printed documents. They are also fully recyclable and biodegradable.

Choosing the Right Envelope for Your Needs

Choosing the right envelope depends on what you are sending and how much protection it needs. As a general guide:

Padded envelopes are best for items that need cushioning against bumps and drops, such as cosmetics, small electronics, books or craft supplies. They are lightweight and economical, making them a good choice for everyday e-commerce despatch.

Board backed envelopes are the right option when you need to keep flat items flat. Documents, certificates, photographs and brochures all benefit from the rigid cardboard backing that prevents bending in the post.

All board envelopes offer the highest level of rigidity and are preferable when the contents are valuable or fragile enough to warrant full protection on both sides of the envelope.

All of our envelopes are sized to work with Royal Mail’s PiP guidelines. The sizing table above shows the internal dimensions of each size alongside its Royal Mail classification, so you can choose the right envelope without overpaying on postage.

Sustainable Envelope Options

Sustainability matters, and we have made sure there is an eco-friendly option across every type of envelope we stock. Our traditional padded envelopes use FSC accredited paper and can be recycled once the bubble lining is separated. Our Enviroflute eco padded envelopes go further: they are entirely plastic free, made from fully sustainable materials, and can be recycled in standard paper waste streams with no separation required.

Board backed and all board envelopes are inherently recyclable and biodegradable, as they are made from cardboard and paper. All of our cardboard comes from FSC or PEFC approved sustainable sources.
